When we first started to read A Mid Summers Nights Dream, I kind of felt uninterested in it. I felt that way because the language is kind of weird. Now I feel that the book is a little easier to understand and comprehend knowing the different words from Shakespeare's times. It is also easier to visualize.
I feel that the language in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" is confusing because when you say the lines out loud it sounds like your speaking a foreign language. The plot is also confusing because the scenes move around a lot so sometimes you may not know where the characters are. Performing it is hard because it's hard understand the language.
When I first read "A Midsummer Night's Dream," I was constantly flipping back and forth between the old and modern versions, trying to figure out this strange new English dialect. After reading the play once I was fluent in Shakespearian (able to understand it, at least), but I had to re-read the play before being able to fully appreciate the rich humor embedded in each scene. Some words, such as “cowslip” still elude me, but over all I understand most of the language. It is genius how Shakespeare develops each character so quickly. Often you can grasp the person’s manner and personality by their first few lines, or even before, if other characters talk about the person (or fairy). The characters were so well represented it took no effort at all to emerse my mind in a role. He also includes little or no prelude, unfolding the setting through each character’s dialogue. Impressive, considering they did not use back drops in Shakespeare’s time. More than helping me to understand the play better, the performances helped me to momentarily overcome my fear of public speaking. All the characters are so personalized that when reading a part, I am no longer a nervous kid standing in front of a room of eyes, I am proud Titania, defying her husband in refusing to give up something she cares about. I am Helena, obsessively gripping about an unrequited love. It is so much easier to speak as some one else.
I think that it is a very misconciving storyline about love, leadership, secrecy, and hate. The words made it confusing but thank god for the modern side. I like this play because it is funny yet serious and because it seems cool :p. Titania and Oberon need some counseling because they have had affairs with other people while they are married.
"A Midsummer Night's Dream". I once saw an actual performance of it, so I know how it ends and everything. I couldn't really understand much they said though, what with all the Elizabethen words and phrases. While the cast did have occasional breaks to explain what was happening, it was still a bit difficult to understand, so the book has helped me better interpret what's going on in the plot, and that's good, I suppose.
In a "midsummers night dream" the language is interesting. It feels like ur learning a whole new launge like spanish or something. The words make me even more nervous when we preform because I dont know if im saying it right and I dont want to sound weird so it scares me. The plot feels very grown-up like to me because of the things shakeepeare brings up with love. At the same time it makes the plot even more interesting. The plot also feels like a circle of love. Its very hard to keep up with every thing but I like how the love works in "a midsummers night dream". The performances, like i said, scare me 'cause i dont know if im saying the words right but it is very entertaining to watch all of your friends go up and have a fun time.
technology has changed the way we do things now like now we have the blog. i like the blog because you dont have to write and i dont like to write beacuse it makes my hand hurt and my hand writing is messy! i like the glog because you can decorate and express your self but learn at the same time! Now a days we do the HSA on the computer which to me is strange but also good because i dont like the pencils they gave to us.
At first when we started reading A Midsummer Night's Dream, I thought that it was going to be boring and confusing. I read a Shakespeare book before about Romeo and Juliet, as I was flipping though those pages, the words were really hard to read and I didn’t understand what they were saying, I got bored of it and put it back where I found it. I also thought that A Midsummer Night's Dream would be the same thing so I didn’t like it. As the days moved on and when we read it more and discussed about it, I found out that it was nothing like the other book. A Midsummer Night's Dream had an English version on the side of so I could keep track on what was going on. I also understood more of it from discussing about it as a class. A Midsummer Night's Dream is a very unique story and the plot is fascinating as it inspires me to write more stories and gives me more ideas.
When I started reading "A Midsummer Night's Dream" i honestly thought it was boring. As I started reading more I was like "ohhhh thats what that is thats kinda funny xD". I really started to enjoy all the charachters and the story line. Whem the preformances started i was super nervous and was freaking out but, when we did it i thought it was easy and liked it! the language is very confusing it could mean one thing but, you think it means another. A couple of times i have cought my self talking like it and i thought it was funny. I am REALLY enjoying this and hope in high school we get to do stuff like this too! xD
When I first started reading "A Midsummer Night's Dream," I honestly hated it. I had to think. and think. and think, before I REALLY understood what was happening. And I'm still not very sure I fully understand everything. But I'm getting there. The more I learn about the Elizabethan language, I begin to enjoy the plot and characters much more. I am really appreciating Shakespeare and hope to continue throughout high school.
At first glance, Shakespeare looks really boring. But after purchasing this "Shakespeare Guide" I have learned to enjoy it. When I first saw this book, I couldn't understand a single thing. But now I can make out Elizabethan terms and convert it to my understanding.
The plot is very unique, entertaining, and most of all enjoyable. One thing that I like about the plot is how Shakespeare ties in magic.
Now that I can understand "Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream" and see how hard it is to understand, I more greatly appreciate the performances that I've seen.
At first I hated it, I never understood it so it was boring and I was uninterested. But as are class came to understand I did as well, I understood the plot what all this means and a little of Elizabethan. Elizabethan was super confusing and I had no idea what it meant but as we went on I became to understand the foreign language. The plot is so complex thought out and so detailed its unbelievable. Shakespeare is a genius!!! The plot is so exciting and jarring that it makes me want to just READ ON!!! The performances are really fun and I look forward to the final project of acting, but I'm really bad at memorizing things and I'm TERRIFIED!!!
The language is very hard to understand and is very confusing. Elizabethan is a really crazy language that I no one can understand at first glance. But if they really try to understand this, they will be in awe by the complexity of Shakespeare.
The plot is actually three plots that all kind of intertwine into one story line that all makes sense. Shakespeare is so genius to create such a perplex, titillating production.
I love to see how the different people read the scene, then watch their performances and how they vista it. I really like how Mrs.Nagaji lets us read the scene, then have us go over and analyze it and then act it out. I love when we perform.
When I heard we were reading William Shakespeare's, "A Midsummer Night's Dream", I was very enthusiastic. I am a HUGE fan of old love novels and plays. "Midsummer Night's Dream" is a funny, dramatic, love story. Shakespeare was pure genius while creating each character like he did. Elizabethan is not that hard to read for me, it can kind of quick when I first started reading Shakespeare and plays and novels written in Elizabethan.
The performances are great, especially for this Shakespeare play. Mostly because the characters don't need to be taken SO seriously. Since, it is a comedy.
Poems to me were always fascinating, so Shakespeare being the “poem god” made me ecstatic to read his literature. But then I realized how everything was in Elizabethan and how even the English translation can be incomprehensible sometimes. But that’s what makes me adore him and all his creative works. Sometimes his lines put me in “awh” because it so ingénues and his characters are novel and creative. I like Shakespeare a lot and I hope I will continue too learn and admire his statue further more in life.:)
I feel like the production of the language was perplexed in my brain cavity. I like how they show the chest of the women in the pool. I like that one. Cherry told me that she had green pubic hair, then gave me a hand made pubic wig. Elizabeth helped me under stand Shakespeare. She's a family friend of my brothers guitar makers dogs maternity custodians mothers mothers t shirt confiscators uncles friends carpet cleaners baby. I had intercourse with eleziveth. Her father.
